A Reddit post has taken the internet by storm, showcasing one of the coolest wedding dress trends we’ve seen in a long time.
A bride named Audrey had an unusual request for her female guests:
“We thought it was sad that most women only get to wear their wedding dress once, so we invited all the women coming to our non-traditional wedding to wear their old wedding dresses again!” -Jesse Lumen, Groom
A New Definition for White-Tie
The wedding dress requirement included unmarried female guests, too! They had a few options, according to the bride and groom:
- Borrow a wedding dress from friends or family members
- Wear black and white
- Wear a costume
In fact, the bridal party dressed up as their favorite characters later in the evening.
Would You Ask Your Guests to Wear Their Wedding Dresses?
The internet can’t get enough! Half of the internet agrees with the bride and groom: it is sad that a bride only gets to wear that gorgeous (and oftentimes expensive!) dress just once. The more the merrier! However, other brides are balking at the idea. After all, the bride is supposed to shine on her wedding day, and would 10 other wedding dresses detract from her moment?
Also, what happens if your cousin’s wedding dress is a jaw-dropping custom-made Viero Bridal creation that outshines your off-the-rack choice? Just kidding! (Sort of.)
Custom Made Wedding Gown
The good news is, Audrey Moore isn’t worried about her guests upstaging her. Audrey custom designed her ice blue wedding dress. In fact, the gown was inspired by Elsa from Frozen!
She was inspired to have her friends wear their wedding gowns because she was one of the last in the friend group to get married. Her ice blue custom gown ensured she stood out in the sea of white!
What do you think? Would you invite your guests to wear their old wedding dresses?
